Kaiser Wrapup

What a beautiful day for a 1/2 marathon! I hear every year that this race is run in the rain – this year, it was gorgeous, almost hot!

The beginning was fun, but crowded! 7000 people at the start makes for some slow miles right off the bat, but I was weaving in and out of people like a pro!

The first 10k was all downhill, so I took advantage of it. Racing through GGP is fun because it’s so familiar. We all cruised through the park and then out onto the Great Hwy at Ocean Beach, where things got a lot tougher.

The last 10k was an out and back on the highway and it was super sunny! I got to see the first place mens and women’s runners go by, though. Magdelina looked amazing, as always!

The finish was on a nasty hill (who puts a hill on a finish line? The Kaiser Race Coordinator! Can we do without that next year?).

After the race a bunch of us met up at the Park Chalet for burgers and beers. Great to see friendly, sweaty, salty faces!
