When it comes to racing, most of us are calculated and particular about what we wear. We plan it out, and lay out our clothes the night before. Turns out, so do the costume racers. There’s a certain kind of racer that seeks the grander that comes with running a marathon in head to tow cellophane, or a tuxedo, or dressed as a hamburger. What is it about these cosutmed runners? Are they crazy… or are we missing out on something?
Just a heads up to some of you newbies who aren’t expecting it, some of the best costumes are from either Bay to Breakers in San Francisco, CA., or in the London Marathon. So keep your eyes peeled for superman, spongebob, an etch-i-sketch, or a troupe of Elvises.
I have actually considered NOT running in a race because it was traditionally a costumed run. The thought of wearing anything more than my shorts and a singlet makes me twitchy!
